Built in 1905, “The Eddy” has a long standing tradition in offering guests exceptional experiences through high quality local products, unique food & beverage offerings, and unparalleled live music. We are looking for an experienced Executive Chef to coach, inspire and lead our BOH team as we enter the next phase of the King Eddy’s evolution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Execute a progressive and inspired products that cultivates the unique and high quality experience KELM customers are accustomed to
- Continually evaluate the food program processes; proactively taking action to capitalize on opportunities for growth in efficacy and quality
- Proactively take steps to drive outlet Food and Beverage targets and become a top culinary destination for culinarians within Alberta
- Adhere to Financial forecasts and established budgets: control food and labour costs
- Work collaboratively with the Front of House team to cultivate an effective menu and product experience development in support of our culinary vision and business plan initiatives
- Supervise BOH Team Members to ensure daily and weekly checklists are completed
- Maintain accurate par levels for ordering using approved vendors; ensure proper rotation and par stocks of all foods are being handled
- Train and coach new and experienced BOH employees in adherence to our safety, sanitation, quality of product and security procedures in accordance to KELM’s policies and procedures
- Development and implementation of all seasonal menu launches, food presentation, recipes, and food costing of all items
- Ensure all recipes are maintained to company standards
- Ensure timely, accurate and effective use of Inventory Management Program (Optimum Control) and completion of invoice coding
- Foster a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment with focusing on effective communication, accountability, and continued development of new and experienced team members
- Create a culture of empowerment and a passion for providing exceptional hospitality
- Leading by example in maintaining the integrity of the rules, regulations, and operating procedures expected within our work environment and facilities
- Manage scheduling and payroll ensuring staffing needs meet forecasted business volume
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding, working effectively with our people and culture team
- Daily inspections on cleanliness and organization and adherence with Alberta Health Services and Occupational Health and Safety mandates
- Develop positive and supportive working relationships with vendors
- Work collaboratively with the sales coordinator, marketing and other managers in executing of events
- Actively participate in all required weekly Leadership meetings scheduled
- Responsible for all kitchen operations including maintenance and human resources
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidence in the kitchen and while representing the restaurant
Qualifications:
- Journeyman or Red Seal certification required
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience, including at least 3 years of management experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of cooking styles
- Proven interpersonal skills
- Ability to accurately cost menu items and conduct monthly inventory
- Ability to motivate and lead a team
- Excellent work ethic and cleanliness
- Effective communicator and able to implement and uphold high standards of hospitality
- Proven track record at building empowered high performing teams and inclusive culture
- Computer literacy with knowledge and experience with Microsoft office
- Experience with Optimum Control is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast paced physical working environment with walking, stair climbing, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds with assistance) required
- “First aid” certificate an asset
