Calgary Folk Fest and NMC present: Public Q&A with A Tribe Called Red

Join us for an evening with A Tribe Called Red in conversation with Smalltown DJs‘ Pete Emes as they discuss their music, influences, creative process, musical fusion, and work with other artists like Yasiin Bey of Mos Def.

This event is part of Calgary Folk Fest and National Music Centre’s 2018 Folk Boot Camp.

A Tribe Called Red is a modern gateway into urban and contemporary indigenous culture and experience, celebrating all its layers and complexity. Currently made comprised of Bear Witness and 2oolman, ATCR first formed in 2008 with roots in Ottawa’s Club Babylon’s uplifting and inclusive Electric Pow Wow nights that united an eclectic crowd of indigenous people, music heads, social activists and anyone looking for a great party and a safe space to gather. Electric Pow Wow was the DNA roots of the live ATCR experience that has toured the world. ATCR straddles a broad range of musical influences grounded in modern hip-hop, traditional pow wow drums and vocals, blended with edgy electronic music production. They are part of a vital new generation of artists making a cultural and social impact in Canada alongside a renewed indigenous rights movement.

Tickets are available to the Q & A session. The indigenous youth music mentorship session is SOLD OUT.
