Gibson to lead King Eddy team towards permanent reopening date on July 20

The King Eddy is pleased to announce Jynnifer Gibson as its new General Manager.

Gibson brings over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, she was the General Manager/Food and Beverage Director of CHARCUT Roast House, a fixture in Calgary’s culinary scene, and Hotel Le Germain. She led a 50-person team in daily operations of the hotel’s five food and beverage outlets.

She is also no stranger to managing the unique needs of a live music venue. Gibson brings past experience as the General Manager at Vin Room West and Wine-Oh’s Bistro, a live music venue, restaurant, and bar in downtown Calgary.

“I am a born and raised Calgarian, so it’s especially exciting for me to play a role in reviving the historic King Eddy,” says Gibson. “Calgarians love to connect over great food and fantastic live music. I look forward to creating a really unique offering in our city’s culinary community by bringing together food and the Eddy’s rich heritage as a hub for original live music, while also reestablishing the new Eddy as a welcoming, vibrant place for all Calgarians to enjoy.”

Gibson is currently working with the King Eddy team to build its front-of-house and back-of-house staff and oversee renovations ahead of the King Eddy’s public reopening as permanent music venue, restaurant and bar on July 20.

About the King Eddy
Located at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, the historic King Edward Hotel spanned more than 100 years in Calgary and was a destination for travelers, settlers, musicians, music fans, and citizens from all walks of life. The hotel was one of the first built in Calgary along 9 Avenue SE in 1905. From the early 1980s until it closed in 2003, the “Eddy” had a respected local, national and international reputation for great live music and was affectionately known as “Calgary’s Home of the Blues.” This legacy of great live music and atmosphere in an authentic setting contributed to the Eddy being recognized as an important piece of Calgary’s music history, which continues to this day.
