The King Eddy will host Eddy Fest, a four-day music showcase, from October 4-7. The event will celebrate the legacy of the venue and toast the Eddy’s next chapter as a vanguard of Calgary’s live music scene.
Eddy Fest will embrace its mandate to provide all music for all people with a lineup from a wide range of local and out-of-town acts. Eddy Fest will pay homage to the venue’s history as a blues bar on the opening night, then open it up to other genres for the remainder of the weekend—showcasing an eclectic mix of performances that represent the “new” Eddy.
“Since our soft opening on July 20, we’ve hosted artists from across all genres and backgrounds, partnered with various arts and culture organizations, and collaborate with grass roots organizations to present local and national artists,” said Rich Taylor, the King Eddy’s Talent Buyer. “Eddy Fest is a great example and realization of our vision as a community hub.”
Early bird four-day weekend passes are on sale now for $50 until September 24 at kingeddy.ca. Limited early bird passes available. Tickets for individual nights will go on sale soon with more headliners to be announced in the coming week.
Long-time Calgarians are familiar with the King Eddy story: a former hotel rising to fame as a live music venue for blues greats. After its 2004 closure, the historical structure was restored to anchor the new National Music Centre facility and eventually reopen as a full-time venue. The vision was realized when the Eddy reopened its doors full-time as a venue, bar and restaurant on July 20.
In addition to its stellar roster of musical talent, the King Eddy kitchen will be offering Southern-inspired culinary delights and cocktails exclusively available during Eddy Fest. Attendees can take advantage of all-day Happy Hour running Thursday through Sunday, featuring craft beer and more.
“We will be highlighting items from our well-received Southern-influenced menu,” says Jynnifer Gibson, General Manager at the King Eddy. “Think comforting classics reworked for a concert-going crowd that’s fueling up for a show.”
Early bird four-day weekend passes are on sale now for a special $50 price until September 24, 2018. For more information and to get your early bird passes now, visit kingeddy.ca.
