King Eddy is hiring a Restaurant Manager (full-time)

Location: King Eddy Live Music Limited, Calgary

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Restaurant Manager who believes in offering guests exceptional experiences through offering high quality local products and exceptional live music. As a Restaurant Manager, you will work with the General Manager on a variety of responsibilities and duties such as overall financial responsibility for the restaurant including scheduling, inventory control, costing, restaurant marketing strategies, recruiting and hiring restaurant staff, training, overseeing food and beverage quality, as well as continuing on in our tradition of offering the highest levels of hospitality and guest experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee restaurant operations;
  • Deliver superior guest services to ensure high guest satisfaction;
  • Assist in planning and developing guest loyalty programs;
  • Assist in planning and developing new and update existing menus;
  • Assist in planning and developing the overall restaurant marketing strategy;
  • Participate at local food events in order to boost the King Eddy’s presence in the community;
  • Respond efficiently and accordingly to customer questions and complaints;
  • Organize and supervise shifts;
  • Prepare cash deposits and tips;
  • Hire, train and lead front of house staff;
  • Evaluate staff performance;
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and General Manager to estimate consumption, forecast requirements and maintain inventory counts;
  • Manage restaurant supplies;
  • Help control costs to budgeted targets and minimize waste;
  • Nurture a positive working environment;
  • Monitor operations and initiate corrective actions;
  • Implement innovative strategies to improve productivity and sales;
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an AGM or Restaurant Manager;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience customer service management;
  • Extensive food and wine knowledge;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software and Point of Sales systems (familiarity with Square for Restaurants and Tock reservations is an asset);
  • Experience in catering, event planning and execution;
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills;
  • Strong financial management skills;
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills;
  • Team player;
  • Excellent time management and great interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task;
  • Highly organized and self-motivated;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently;
  • Flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

This is a salaried position that includes gratuities, tips, and bonus pay. Full benefits which include dental care, health care, paid vacation, and eligibility to participate in RRSP matching program.

Established in 1905, the King Eddy was Calgary’s second-oldest hotel and the longest-operating hotel bar until its closure in 2004.
