King Eddy Expands Hours to Seven Days a Week and Announces Summer Rooftop Opening

From live music and trivia nights to family-friendly brunches, the legendary venue offers something for everyone this summer

(Calgary, AB — May 25, 2026) The King Eddy will be open seven days a week on its main floor starting on June 1, with rooftop access to follow on July 18, making it a go-to summer spot in the heart of Calgary’s East Village.

Starting on Monday, June 1, head to the legendary venue every day of the week for live entertainment and a menu of top-tier food and drinks in a welcoming, historic atmosphere. Mondays will feature the King Eddy House Band, a super group of musicians with members of the Red Hot Hayseeds and Wine Soaked Preachers, playing country and western tunes for fans gearing up for a game. On Tuesdays, wing night and music trivia are on the agenda for the perfect post-work outing with friends or colleagues. Wine Wednesdays means 50% off bottles. Thursdays through Saturdays will include a rotating mix of local and touring live acts in the evening. For the brunch crowd, Saturdays and Sundays are the place to be for a laid-back, family-friendly afternoon with live singer-songwriter performances and tasty eats from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The King Eddy Rooftop will open Fridays and Saturdays, starting on July 18, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, offering casual bites, local brews, and stellar views. The rooftop and main floor are both all-ages.

“We’re getting ready for a busy summer season and look forward to welcoming our regular patrons and new visitors to experience everything the King Eddy has to offer,” said Nick Gallagher, General Manager of the King Eddy. “Whether you’re grabbing dinner before the big game, catching live music from your favourite local artists, or enjoying the rooftop with friends, there’s something happening at the Eddy all summer long.”

The King Eddy’s new summer hours on the main floor are Monday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Sunday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, starting on June 1. The King Eddy Rooftop will be open Friday and Saturday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, starting on July 18, weather permitting.

About the King Eddy
Founded over 120 years ago, the King Eddy is an important piece of Calgary’s music story and remains one of the oldest music venues in Canada that is still in operation today. As a cornerstone of the National Music Centre (NMC), the rich civic and musical history of the King Eddy is the primary reason that NMC chose to construct its new building at this location. The King Edward Hotel was one of the first hotels built in Calgary along 9 Avenue between 1905-1907. Over the years, it’s been a home and destination for travellers, settlers, musicians, music fans, and citizens from all walks of life. From the early 1980s until it closed in 2003, the “Eddy” had a respected local, national, and international reputation for legendary live music and was affectionately known as “Calgary’s Home of the Blues.” Restored brick by brick to its original glory by the National Music Centre, the reimagined King Eddy reopened in 2018, marking a new chapter in its storied legacy. It has received numerous national music industry awards and nominations in that time, and has been repeatedly recognized as one of Calgary’s best live music venues.
