About Justine Giles

Justine Giles is ready to tell all, and the Calgary-based singer-songwriter isn’t afraid of what will happen next. Always one to wear her heart on her sleeve, Giles returns with a smoky new single, “Before It’s Too Late”, a bluesy rock confessional and last-chance-at-love ballad. This release marks her third single in under two years following the shimmering summer bop “Another Chance” and the deeply emotive “Save Myself.”

“Before It’s Too Late” suggests the closing of a personal chapter for Giles. At the heart of the bittersweet reverie is an understanding that the path of healing isn’t always linear. The wounds may be fresh, but make no mistake: Giles remains firmly in the driver’s seat of her own destiny, anchored by an affecting acoustic guitar melody and her newly unlocked confidence. “Before It’s Too Late” places Giles’ voice at center stage, soaring above organ swells and punchy drum lines with a dynamic and passionate fearlessness. Careening from unwaveringly confident to tender and vulnerable, it’s clear there’s no turning back for Giles on “Before It’s Too Late.”

“Before It’s Too Late” marks a return with collaborator and producer Mark Troyer (Evergreen Sound), adding a layer of rock’n’roll grit to Justine’s passionate performance. The momentum is mounting for Giles, who has become a mainstay in the Calgary music scene and is continuing to garner national attention with each release. With appearances on CBC’s Eyeopener and X929’s Xposure, showcases with the CCMA’s “Off Country” and Jim Beam’s “Stillhouse Songwriter Sessions”, Giles draws inspiration from the deep well of songwriting traditions in the style of Maren Morris, Sheryl Crow and Kacey Musgraves.

As the sun sets on Giles’ latest chapter, the ghosts of her past are mere rhinestones under the shimmering stage lights of her next big show.
