Indie rock artist Brock Geiger and singer-songwriter Dylan Menzie hit the legendary King Eddy stage with special guest TAYLR on August 3, presented by X92.9 and Gateway Events.
About Brock Geiger:
Brock Geiger has established himself as a key musician and collaborator in the Canadian music landscape. His new collection of music shines an overdue spotlight on a penchant for refined song-craft, ambitious production, and showcases his singular vision.
About Dylan Menzie:
After growing up a nerdy skater kid in Eastern Prince Edward Island, Dylan Menzie made an indelible mark in the talent-rich Atlantic Canadian music scene with his debut EP, Heather Avenue, in 2013. Its success spurred high-profile performances throughout the Maritimes, including an opening slot for Ron Sexsmith.
In May of 2020, Menzie released his most eclectic and ambitious effort to date. His first full length album titled Lost in Dreams, a creative journey down that leads down many paths. Some of forthright, earnest folk music anchored by organic instrumentation and his unmistakable vocal stylings. And others, into more abstract and ethereal territory — lush soundscapes defined by digital flourishes and off-kilter production. This wide-ranging album landed him many nominations and he was awarded Songwriter of the Year, Solo Recording of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year at the 2021 Music PEI Awards.
In 2022, he was awarded his first ECMA for Song of the Year with his single, “A Heart That Doesn’t Want Mine.” Then again, when his following single “A Piece of Me” from his first ever self-produced EP Modern Classic, was awarded Rising Star Recording of the Year at 2023 East Coast Music Awards. Constantly moving forward, Dylan Menzie is currently gearing up for dates all over Canada to promote his next record North American Dream Kid, set to be released September 6, 2024.
About TAYLR:
TAYLR is a singer-songwriter based in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary, Alberta) that has the control and skill of a trained vocalist while maintaining the warmth and fun-loving nature of their inner child. TAYLR is no stranger to self reflection and deep internal exploration that bold, technicolor songwriting is born from.
Taking bits and pieces of R&B, jazz, folk, and indie pop, “the thinking person’s songwriter” succeeds in creating hearty melodic recipes in which you can taste the earnestness in every spoonful.
