Cabaret Calgary Presents: TRYST at the King Eddy

King Eddy and Cabaret Calgary proudly present our newest series, TRYST, a scintillating encounter of music and burlesque. Prepare to see Calgary’s grooviest bands partner up with the ever-talented roster of Cabaret Calgary performers. Viewer discretion is advised as this is a cheeky evening of sassy numbers sure to inspire and awe.

Cabaret Calgary prides itself on being leaders of the burlesque revival by creating inclusive spaces for dancers and performers. Showcasing some of Calgary’s finest acts, this TRYST performance includes:

Syd & The Alright Guys
To kick off TRYST on the right note, we have the extremely talented musical stylings of Syd & The Alright Guys (Sydney Zadravec, aka Zaddy the Baddy). Born of various Calgary musical acts and connections, Syd & the Alright Guys have come together as a group to deliver heavy hitting classics — rock, blues, alt country… you can expect pretty much anything that features powerhouse vocals, hard rhythm, and impactful instrumentation. Featuring the harmony stylings of Sydney Zadravec (bass) and Jay Bowcott (guitar), the twangy surf-rock guitar stylings of Chris Van Keir, and the tasteful yet powerful rolls of Cody Voyer on drums, this outfit of rockers will have you dancing in no time!

Bea Lissima
For the past 15 years Bea Lissima has been gracing stages across Turtle Island. Hailing from Moh’kins’tsis, the pearl of the prairies, has performed at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender in Las Vegas, the Asian Burlesque Festival in New York City, and the Wiggle Room in Montreal to name a few. She strives to combine her unique identities into her art-form, and create an experience that shares empathy, passion, and excitement. Along with performing, she is also a co-producer of the show “G-String”; combining live music with burlesque in Calgary, and is a mentor to BIPOC burlesque artists. She is the Filipinx quoting Malcom X, the peak of feminine mystique, and serving looks while reading bell hooks. If the body knows the score, she’s definitely winning.

Ivy la Fleur
Songstress & Striptease Artist- Ivy La Fleur was born & raised in Moh’kins’tsis. She has left her mark entertaining crowds from East to West.  The sweetest of sweet, with the sass to match- Ivy is a triple threat, known for her seductive nature, campy stage presence & well-rounded character work. Drawn to Burlesque for the glamour, creativity & cheekiness – Ivy got her Burlesque start in 2013 with Burlesque Burn, quickly growing into a solo artist of her own style.  Ivy has had the pleasure of gracing stages at the Calgary & Edmonton Burlesque Festivals, Montreal International Burlesque Festival, Oregon International Burlesque Festival,  Le Boudoir in NYC & took home 1st Runner Up at the Golden Legends Champion Challenge in Denver, CO. With Ivy’s ever-growing experience in music & the burlesque industry, she has a keen ear & passion for the ambiance, mood, & environment that can be created, transporting the audience with the right combination of music & cabaret entertainment.

Bitch Sassidy
Bitch Sassidy loves burlesque. From the roar of the crowd, to backstage laughs, designing a new act, to producing a night to remember, if it’s burlesque, it’s Bitch. Provocative, powerful, and ready to pounce, this dancing poodle is a take-no-prisoners, no holds barred performer. Raised and rambled on Canadian prairies, Bitch first strutted across the burlesque stage on Canada’s wet West coast in Vancouver, BC. She began her burlesque journey at Torlage Cabaret, the School of Tease, and debuted as a solo performer at the infamous Funky Winkerbeans with BoneRattle Talent before riding back into her hometown, Calgary. Welcomed into a thriving community of Calgary artists, Bitch joined the neo-burlesque troupe, Peppurrmint Parlour. She has proudly performed in circus, theatre, film, on small stages, in massive rooms, at conventions, and private parties. Onstage or off, Bitch Sassidy sets the bar high for professionalism, and polish, demanding you come meet her at a cut above.

Establishing Cabaret Calgary Productions as the events company for cabaret entertainment has been a thrilling experience which she excels at, as can be witnessed by the seemingly unending resume of one-of-a-kind entertainment she has helped produce. She is an idea machine with superb execution and follow through. It is Bitch’s dream to leave a legacy of opportunity, creation, education, and community through their immense efforts of building professional platforms for artists, partnerships with venues, and ever-lasting, outrageous memories with audiences.

Miyoshi von Doom
Cooler than a body on ice, this dazzling duchess of debauchery calls burlesque her “best midlife crisis to date.” A regular on stages in Calgary and Edmonton, she has performed in Calgary’s first Big Band Burlesque show and has also had the pleasure of performing in the Edmonton Burlesque Festival and the Itty Bitty Burlesque Festival. You can also catch her serving up knuckle sandwiches as her alter ego, Betsy Bawlinchain, in Calgary’s hilarious monthly wrestling show GoGo Battles.
