The National Music Centre is presenting a triple header bill at the King Eddy with honky-tonk country act Shaela Miller, Métis/Cree blues-rocker Bebe Buckskin, and jazz pianist Timothonius.
Canada Day at the King Eddy performer schedule:
The King Eddy will be open on July 1 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Seating is first come, first served on Canada Day.
About Shaela Miller:
Shaela Miller’s spent over a decade in Alberta country, and no doubt, her Joan Jett vibe, songwriting chops, and outstanding vocal tone could have put her on a number of paths, but she’s never bowed to the constant, overwrought attention-seeking bombast so common to today’s country radio. As one of the Canadian prairie underground’s most respected independent artists, Shaela Miller is playing the music she wants to, adding the elements that progress for her vision, while firmly grounded in that go-to sound generation after generation grew up hearing on AM radio in single-cab farm trucks; picked-up shuffles and sweet, yearning songs depicting both the good times and hard times that only get written by someone who’s lived every minute of them.
About Bebe Buckskin:
Born and raised an “Indigenous Cowgirl” in the great muskeg of Northern Alberta, Bebe Buckskin; a Cree/Métis artist, is the embodiment of Northern grit and soul. Classic blues – rock, swamp – soul is the term that best describes the anchor of her music, with infusions that skim upon outlaw country, folk and R&B. This ex-rodeo queen swamp woman is unafraid to bare her raw intensity on stage, making for a riveting and authentic performance. Velvety robust vocals paired with a soulfully dynamic band, floats the listener away on a journey through soundscapes of nostalgic inspirations. Deep dense decadence for the senses.
About Timothonius
Timothonius is a Canadian jazz pianist, music producer, and composer. He is the bandleader of the HAVEN Vanguard Trio, and the man behind the “HAVEN Party,” an event which takes place every last Monday of each month at Koi. Timothonius aims to curate a new wave of “modern” music by merging the worlds of jazz, neo-soul, and hip-hop with an electro-acoustic texture. His inspirations include Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Nujabes, and Robert Glasper.
Sound production equipment for the King Eddy is provided by PK Sound and Yamaha.
