Chronograph Records Breakout West Showcase

Western Canada’s premier label for Jazz and much more presents a special evening of music featuring four amazing artists ranging from jazz to flamenco and very special guest trumpeter and 2022 jazz nominee Al Muirhead!

7:00pm – Keith O’Rourke Trio (Calgary, AB)

Saxophonist Keith O’Rouke kicks off the evening with the first look at his new album the ‘Imperfect Perfectionist’. Music composed over the pandemic and funded in part from his ‘jazz for bread’ campaign where he raised funds making sourdough for subscribers. Keith brings a fun and energy with this album release featuring Kodi Hutchinson on bass & Afo Fapojuwo on drums. Contemporary jazz with a kick!

8:15pm – Erin Propp & Larry Roy (Winnipeg, MB)

“Winnipeg singer-songwriter Erin Propp has a voice that is as clear as mountain fresh spring water. If you could bottle the purity of Erin’s voice singers around the world would line up to drink it.” – Tim Tamashiro, former Host of Tonic, CBC Radio 2

Vocalist Erin Propp and guitarist Larry Roy reach into the everyday and blur the edges, creating works that are at once deeply personal and achingly relatable. Join them for a set of stunning music from their WCMA nominated album ‘We Want All The Same Things’ in quartet with bassist Mike Lent and drummer Sandro Dominelli.

9:30pm – Audrey Ochoa Quartet (Edmonton, AB)

Exhilarating and exuberant, trombonist Audrey Ochoa exemplifies an artist who has dedicated herself to her craft while remaining relevant and lighthearted. One of Edmonton’s most prolific trombone players, playing jazz, rock, pop, Latin, punk, ska, and whatever other genre will have her. Ochoa has found a home in jazz and contemporary music, composing her own tunes, which are often Latin-influenced and convey her sense of humour. Audrey is joined by long-time trio featuring bassist Mike Lent, drummer Sandro Dominelli and special guest Jeremiah McDade on Saxophone.

10:45pm – Notas de 4 (Calgary, AB)

A performance described as Intense, edgy and dreamy, Notas de 4 with Mexican singer Silvia Temis brings a very personal touch of Flamenco inspired music fused with traditional tunes from across Latin America. This is a unique collaboration between Jorge Villena (Spain) on the guitar, Luis Tovar “El Pana” on percussion (Venezuela), and Silvia Temis vocals (Mexico) featuring a sextet including Flamenco Dance, bass and violin to filling out the group.
