Crown Jewels Comedy Night: John Beuhler and Marc Hallworth

Crown Jewels Comedy is here to bring you Canada’s finest and funniest comedians every Sunday night at the King Eddy!

April 28 will feature John Beuhler headlining, Marc Hallworth hosting, and a hilarious cast of guests. Bring your empty barrels because we’ll be filling them with laughs, guaranteed!

About John Beuhler:

John began performing stand-up comedy at the age of nineteen. In his first few years, John starred in a national comedy special, won the Just for Laughs Home Grown Comedy Competition, finished in the finals of the Seattle International Comedy Competition, and shot two more Canadian stand-up specials for Canadian national television. All before the age of 25.

John has performed in the Just for Laughs Festival Gala where he won over the crowd and was touted as saving the show.

John then went on to win the Corner Gas Comedy contest. Giving him $10 000, and an appearance on Corner Gas with his mentor Brent Butt.

John has opened for the likes of Dennis Miller, Brent Butt, Joan Rivers, Martin Short, Zach Galifianakis, and Craig Ferguson to name a few.  John’s style has been described as, wickedly funny, fearless and poignant.

John’s arsenal of sickly smart comedy is enough to leave any crowd begging for more. He is quickly becoming one of North America’s favorite comedians.

“If the TV and movie executives who audit Beuhler don’t make him a star, the world will have a lot less laughter in it.” -Malcolm Parry, Vancouver Sun

“When it seemed that nothing could go right (at the Just For Laughs Gala) John Beuhler, a young, unheralded, Canuck comic took the stage. He slayed, and save the night.” -Bill Brownstein, Montreal Gazette

“Bill Maher, Margaret Cho, and Bill Cosby. John Beuhler is neither a big name nor an American-he is, in fact, a local-but he’s just as funny as they are.” -Guy MacPherson, Georgia Straight

“I don’t see why he doesn’t go to school and become a doctor. He would still be funny, but this way he would also have a reliable income. Nothing says you can’t be a doctor or lawyer and still do stand-up.” -Gayle Beuhler, local mother

About Marc Hallworth:

Marc Hallworth has been described as “too poor for how happy he is.” Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Marc moved to Toronto in 2009 and has since been part of NXNE, YYComedy, FunnyFest, the Brantford Comedy Festival, “Funniest Clean Comedian on the Lakeshore”, and the Bollywood Monster Mashup, where he opened for Aparna Nancherla. He was the second place winner of the Flat Tire Comedy Competition, a semi-finalist in both the Toronto Comedy Brawl and Prove You’re A Comic Competition, has appeared on SiriusXM Radio as part of “Canada Laughs,” and was chosen to host the Ontario Celebration Zone as part of the PanAm Games. His Canadian Comedy Award nominated sketch troupe Vest of Friends are the winners of the Best-of-the-Fest Award at both the Toronto and Montreal SketchFests, and were named one of Bite.ca’s “10 Canadian Sketch Troupes You Need To See Right Now.” He is an improv tournament champion at both the TheatreSports Micetro and Toronto Beerprov, and got to be part of The BooProv Halloween Spooktacular with Colin Mocherie. With material that’s not out to offend, his few goofy ideas mixed among a ton of personal anecdotes all culminate towards a ton of laughs and some real optimism!
