Doug Hoyer with Tariq and The Rosellas

Catch the blissful pop melodies and quick-witted lyricism of Doug Hoyer with special guests Tariq and The Rosellas at the King Eddy.

About Doug Hoyer:
After living in America for the past 4 years, former Edmontonian Doug Hoyer has settled into Calgary to release his 5th album, “Character Witness”. Hoyer crafted the album from the vantage of various perspectives, with each character demonstrating a unique, and often lonely, point of view on our time on earth. Backed by Evan Freeman on drums and Jeff Kynoch on bass, Hoyer will be bringing his wry, playful set to the King Eddy to share his new collection of songs.

About The Rosellas:
Emily Triggs and Lorrie Matheson are the Rosellas. The pair teamed up after Lorrie produced Emily’s amazing debut record “When Guinevere Went Under” and they became fast friends. Harmony singing is the impetus for the duo’s existence, and their voices compliment each other exquisitely. “You be Emmylou, I’ll be Gram”, said Lorrie on their first rehearsal, and while that classic duo is a touchstone, their music is informed by such artists as Big Star, Tom Petty, Gillian Welch, and other roots rock luminaries. Come listen, they’ll sing you back home.

About Tariq:
Tariq is a Juno nominated songwriter and recording artist with a music career that spans over two decades. Born in rural Quebec to parents from Pakistan and Fiji, Tariq grew up on a healthy diet of Bollywood soundtracks. Then, in high school, he got his hands on a guitar and started writing songs which sounded more like Cat Stevens and Neil Young than Mohammed Rafi. By the end of the nineties, Tariq had released two full-length albums, Splat, and The Basement Songs. The Basement Songs, which came out on EMI Music Canada, earned him national radio play as well as a Juno nomination for “Best New Solo Artist.”
