Are these guys for real? See fictional rock ‘n’ roll band Downtown Exit come to life at the legendary King Eddy on Friday, July 28.

About Downtown Exit

Downtown Exit began as a fictional band from the novel Bootleg Stardust. Author Glenn Dixon recruited members of the Calgary band the Barrel Dogs in bringing this unique project to life and they have since recorded songs on the legendary Rolling Stones Mobile, mastered the tracks at Abbey Road studios in London, and most recently covered David Bowie’s Space Oddity in a stunning new video.

Lush harmonies from the band’s four singers, backed with two keyboards and Dixon’s lone acoustic guitar make up the sound. You’ll hear a little bit of Zeppelin, a little bit of the Beatles, even a little bit of Leonard Cohen. The originals (from three different song writers) echo the sound of the classic era of rock and roll, and plans for a new album are in the works, having just finished new recording sessions, this time on the famed Trident console at the National Music Centre.

Read the book, hear the music, this is a night you will not soon forget.
