Friday Night at the King Eddy: Amelie Patterson with Benjamin Longman

Bow Valley folk-pop songwriter Amelie Patterson performs with opener Benjamin Longman as part of the National Music Centre’s hybrid live music and virtual concert series, Friday Night at the King Eddy, sponsored by Bell.

Amelie Patterson is a pop music workhorse with hooks to spare. Her new single, the dazzling alt-pop “Let Your Trouble Go,” is the latest drop from her newest concept-driven studio project, The Playlist. Rather than recording and releasing all at once, The Playlist is a stream of rolling singles, traversing the emotional, lyrical, and genre spectrum. Whatever captures Amelie’s creative imagination is harnessed and brought to the the world in a living and breathing series of songs.

Benjamin Longman is a singer, songwriter, musician, and photographer. His latest release, The Garden of Song, is comprised of five musical adaptations of poems found in a 1911 anthology of the same name, and one additional original song thrown in for good measure. It marries the luscious poetic imagery of turn-of-the-century Romanticism with sonic textures heavily inspired by the British folk revival movement of the ’60s and ’70s.
