Groove Theory 5.11 with Sargeant & Comrade

Stylish, soulful roots blended with reggae that you just have to hear. See Yolanda Sargeant with Groove Theory Calgary at the King Eddy.

Groove Theory Calgary is an open-ended, free form, perfectly imperfect, “do what u feel” jam session that welcomes groovy bands, singers, emcees, spoken word artists and musicians to create and collaborate, on the spot and right on the legendary King Eddy stage.

Check out who’s grooving with us this week:

Yolanda Sargeant
Sargeant & Comrade (Yolanda Sargeant & DJ Comrade) combine elements of old school jazz, soul, reggae and hip hop to create brand new flavours of music that transcend genre. Salvage The Soul is an artistic approach at blending the old with the new. Dusty record samples get mixed with live instruments and Yolanda Sargeant’s stylish, soulful voice brings it all together. Combine this with special guest appearances by Ouda Ouda, Touch (Touch & Nato), Gift Of Gab (Blackalicious) and you have one of the most highly anticipated underground albums of 2014 coming out of Calgary, Canada.

JMaj7 Music:
Producer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist, Jamil Ahmed does it all. In addition to curating the local sounds of Groove Theory Calgary, Jamil DJs groovy sounds every Thursday at the King Eddy.

Sound production equipment for the King Eddy provided by PK Sound and Yamaha.
