Groove Theory 5.5 with Caleb Hart and Josh Sahunta

Start the summer vibes early with Groove Theory Calgary and the smoothest island soul courtesy of Caleb Hart.

Groove Theory Calgary is an open-ended, free form, perfectly imperfect, “do what u feel” jam session that welcomes groovy bands, singers, emcees, spoken word artists and musicians to create and collaborate, on the spot and right on the legendary King Eddy stage.

Check out who’s grooving with us this week:

Caleb Hart
Caleb Hart has the ability to bring something fresh, honest and powerful every time he steps on a stage. A natural born performer since he was a young boy growing up in Trinidad & Tobago; Hart has been taking his music across Canada and around the world to The Caribbean, Australia, USA and New Zealand full time since 2012. Along with racking up over 800 shows in that time, he has also released 5 records, 9 singles, and won prestigious awards from Edmonton Folk Fest, the Western Canadian Music Awards and more. However, all of the sales, stats and awards are just the background to Hart’s mission to spread songs of hope and unity wherever he goes. Whether touring with a band or as a solo performer, Hart carries a singular ability to bring the audience together for the show and beyond.

His debut solo EP album ‘Island Soul’ was released worldwide in June 2017, and his debut EP with his band The Royal Youths ‘OrigiNation’ was released the following September. He’s set to release 11 original solo tracks through 2018, with ‘Go Away,’ ‘Relax,’ and ‘Live In The Moment’ already available on all major music platforms.

Josh Sahunta:
When it comes to setting the bar high, Canadian r&b-pop artist Josh Sahunta never lets his feet touch the ground.

The self-taught multi-instrumentalist and singer uniquely positions himself as a songwriter with substance. Josh celebrated the release of his debut album “Dissonance” in late October 2017 with two music video premieres and a sold out show at The Rec Room; a 300+ crowd in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta.

Drawing upon his influences of John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd, “Dissonance” is a heartfelt debut packed with deeply rich narrative and cool, contemporary soundscapes.

JMaj7 Music:
Producer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist, Jamil Ahmed does it all. In addition to curating the local sounds of Groove Theory Calgary, Jamil DJs groovy sounds every Thursday at #KingEddyYYC.

Sound production equipment for the King Eddy provided by PK Sound and Yamaha.
