Her Favorite Song: In Support of the Women’s Centre of Calgary

Join us for an evening of song in support of the Women’s Centre of Calgary. This musically-diverse lineup features incredibly talented local women including Amelie Patterson, Justine Tyrell, Mariya Stokes, Kate Melvina, Liz Christensen, AVA WILD, Justine Giles, and Nicolette Erika.

Proceeds from this event will go to support the Women’s Centre of Calgary, which aids women with issues as diverse as poverty and hunger, family breakdown, parenting, homelessness, unemployment, health and education, immigration and settlement, domestic violence, isolation and loneliness, life transitions and discrimination.

About AVA WILD

AVA WILD, aka ‘your-wild-friend’, has been playing music and performing across the country for 10 years. Through songwriting, musical production and collaborations, she has been able to experiment with her voice and express her authenticity.

About Amelie Patterson

Canadian songwriter, Amelie Patterson, is a tall glass of water in the Alt-Folk landscape; refreshing, transparent, and crucial. Her new single, the dazzling alt-pop ‘GOLDEN LINE’ is about mental health, and staying with someone as they navigate challenging times.

About Justine Tyrell

Fronting her notable, soulful duo, Justine Tyrell blends smooth vocal stylings, with a fresh twist that is all her own. Having written for Television and Film, and coming off the heels of the successful release of her debut EP While You Were Sleeping, the Canadian-born songstress is just getting started. Justine packs soulful vocals, catchy hooks and melodic stylings.

About Mariya Stokes

Known for her quick wit, quirky sense of humour, and signature retro style, Country Music Alberta’s two-time Horizon Female Artist of the Year is in music for the long haul. From hosting the 2020 CMAB Awards Show alongside the legendary George Canyon to playing guitar and opening for Ru-Pauls Drag Race superstar Trixie Mattel, Mariya Stokes always appears where you’d least expect her.

About Kate Melvina

Kate Melvina is a singer/pianist/composer and the vocalist, writer, producer and keyboardist for Tendavillage. The central creative force behind the group is Kate, who writes, produces and edits all the music herself. Many of her influences can be heard throughout, including acts like Stevie Wonder, Prince, D’Angelo and newer artists like Mononeon and Moonchild.

About Liz Christensen

Liz Christensen is an Alberta-based Pop/Country Artist influenced by artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Stevie Nicks. Her new single, “Small Town” (August 2022), is a magical, heartfelt song about growing up. “This is a song about my childhood, my hometown, my hopes, my dreams, the people I care about.” says Liz. “It’s very nostalgic and it means so much to me.”

About Justine Giles

“Save Myself” isn’t just the title of Justine Giles’ new single. The song represents a mission statement for the Calgary, Alberta-based artist who is poised to make an indelible mark within the singer/songwriter world.

About Nicolette Erika

Growing up in a musical family, Nicolette Erika was always singing the Beatles and Dixie Chicks around the house. Now, she’s taken up guitar/ukulele, is writing her own music, and working towards a career in pop/country music.
