Jan Randall

Musician and producer Jan Randall performs at the legendary King Eddy on June 6.

About Jan Randall:

My studio produced award winning original scores for over 800 productions between 1985 and 2015.

In 2001, I created and supervised the music for the World Championships in Athletics broadcast to a live audience of 4 billion in over 200 countries. It featured 45000 dancers, 80 drummers, a 1000 voice choir and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

I was Music Director for Second City collaborating with Catherine O’Hara, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Richard Kind, Ron James, Eugene Levy, and Mike Myers.

From 2009-2016 I wrote over 50 original song parodies and performed them live for CBC on national radio’s award winning The Irrelevant Show.

As Music Director of the Banff World TV Festival, I have been on stage performing with Bob Newhart, John Cleese, Martin Short, Dame Edna, Steve Smith (Red Green).

I’ve been the opening act for Ray Charles, Bruce Cockburn, Iron Butterfly, and Fats Domino. I’ve also been a first call sideman recruited to perform in concert with Bo Diddley, Spencer Davis, Sha Na Na, Gary US Bonds, Otis Rush, Sam Lay and Amos Garrett.

Two albums of original songs are available worldwide through Apple and Spotify. They are an eclectic mix drawing from jazz, blues, folk and world music traditions influenced by Randy Newman, Tom Waits, and Mose Alison — 2008 Good Fair World and 2019 Wait In Line.

I continue to create and perform today out of my home in Victoria B.C.
