Calgary’s Jazz Collaborative JazzYYC is presenting a cozy weekend of jazz concerts live at the historic King Eddy this November.

Two masters of their craft meet in this unique double-bill event with vocalist Mallory Chipman and saxophonist/composer Chelsea McBride performing on Saturday, November 12.

About Chelsea McBride Quintet

Saxophonist and composer Chelsea McBride is one of Canada’s rising international stars who is a diverse musician who refuses to stay in one creative box.

Driven by an endless need for expressing herself creatively, composer and multi-instrumentalist Chelsea McBride is establishing herself as a mainstay of the Canadian and American jazz scenes. Now based in New York City, McBride made her first international trip guest conducting at the 2019 Perth International Jazz Festival and Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival in support of her recent big band recording, Aftermath.

About Mallory Chipman

With a voice warm as prairie sun and clear as mountain water, award-winning singer-songwriter Mallory Chipman is not one easily forgotten. With a forthcoming indie-folk EP (March 2023) and two prior jazz albums to her name, Chipman’s music is rich with multi-genre influence and vocal prowess.

Mallory Chipman is an award-winning singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer from Treaty Six Territory in Canada. A true raconteuse, Chipman is revered for the way she artfully weaves story into song and expresses both power and vulnerability through her music.

Genre knows know bounds within her catalogue, as she seamlessly traverses styles including folk, jazz, country, pop, rock, and experimental music. Alongside her solo folk music project, Chipman plays with art-rock band, Mallory Chipman & the Mystics, and alt-country outfit, The Goddamsels.
