Join Justine Giles at the King Eddy on October 25 as she celebrates the release of her new EP Another Chance. This fall also marks her 10-year anniversary from her debut album Shine (released in hometown of Sudbury, Ontario). Giles will be performing with a 4-piece band, including local pianist and composer Sarah Houston and special-guest bass player Craig Giles from Sudbury. Singer-songwriter Tanya Ryan is set to open the night.
About Justine Giles:
In late 2019, Justine Giles was looking for a fresh start. She packed up and moved from Toronto to Calgary, carrying big plans along with her guitar. Of course, within a few months those plans had to be put on hold, but it didn’t stop Justine from building a foundation of new musical ideas, along with new connections to bring them to life.
Things may have taken longer than originally planned, but Justine Giles has another chance to show the world what she can do, and she’s taking full advantage of it. Her new EP, suitably titled Another Chance, encapsulates her past five years in five heartfelt and beautifully constructed songs, re-introducing Justine as a powerful Canadian voice within the global singer/songwriter scene. She cites Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and Tenille Townes as artists who have inspired her most recently, adding to the messages of female empowerment that have always been present in her work.
About Tanya Ryan:
Smooth, classic vocals with a modern approach to delivery and songwriting, Tanya Ryan moved from Saskatoon, SK in 2008 and has rooted herself in the Foothills of Alberta where she has been honing and shaping her musicianship by playing numerous venues across Canada.
In 2017 Tanya was awarded $50, 000 as a top 3 finalist in Wild 95.3’s Project WILD Artist Development Program. In 2014, she was chosen as one of 6 across Canada, to represent rising talent in the Canadian Country Music Association’s ‘Discovery Program’. And has played on some of Alberta’s biggest stages including The Calgary Stampede’s Coca Cola Stage, the Nashville North Stage, and in Camrose on the Big Valley Jamboree MainStage.
