King Eddy Five-Year Anniversary: Songsmith Sundays with Carter Felker

Cheers to five years! The King Eddy is hosting a five-day musical celebration featuring an eclectic mix of live music from June 28 to July 2 in honour of the Eddy’s five-year anniversary.

We’re celebrating five years since reopening, but the King Eddy goes back 118 years! Established in 1905, the King Edward Hotel was Calgary’s second oldest hotel and the longest operating bar and hotel when it closed in 2004. After over a decade of silence, the revitalized King Eddy re-opened as a live music venue, restaurant, and bar in 2018 as part of the National Music Centre development. Today, the Eddy continues as a cornerstone of music, community, and culture, building on its storied musical legacy.

Country-folk singer-songwriter Carter Felker presents a chill weekend set of hand-crafted songs, and you never know who might join him as a surprise guest. This family-friendly show is best paired with our delicious Sunday brunch!

About Carter Felker

Born and raised in the Prairies, Carter Felker’s eyes have seen the length of the wheat fields through many winter mornings, and the stretch of the sun through many short-lived summers. He has laboured, he has lost, and he has loved. Carter uses his own experience, and his desire to tell a story to create honest, human-made, country music.

“Carter Felker traffics in music, yes, but even more profoundly in essence: the humdrum essence of Monday morning alarms clocks coming round again during lifetimes ticking on through thoughtless dawn moments walking across the kitchen floor; the craven essence of sneaking wordlessly away from a relationship and feeling the mute screen door sag shut behind you; the essence of everyday struggles.” – MLW
