Lauren Mayell

Powerhouse country artist Lauren Mayell hits the legendary King Eddy stage with her dazzling live show on Friday, August 4.

About Lauren Mayell

Lauren Mayell has a dynamic stage presence and a voice that absolutely soars. Her performances give every audience a glimpse of a genuine talent. Even by country music standards, where outsized charisma is a basic job requirement the Calgary-based singer/songwriter is a showstopper with a long list of achievements under her shiny “Pure Country” belt buckle, a legacy gift from her very influential musician grandfather.

The Calgary-based Mayell — a former downhill ski racer & coach, and now a sought-after voice coach with seven singles already issued to radio and a string of marquee, barn-burning Canadian live shows alongside everyone from Kane Brown, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Dean Brody, Brett Kissel, Emerson Drive, to the Washboard Union and more. She has performed across Canada and the US at Country Thunder Arizona, Alberta, and Saskatchewan (Craven), Sunfest, Rockin’ River fest, Coca-Cola Stage, Nashville North, and Calgary Stampede Rangeland Tent to name a few.

The singer/songwriter — perhaps best known for the lyric-driven anthem “Rules Need Rebels,” her sixth single to country radio — collected the Alberta Country Music Award for Female Artist of the Year (2018). That precedes Mayell’s full-length debut, currently underway. Recorded at MCC Recording Studios in Calgary , the Warehouse in Vancouver and at Manicdown Productions, “The Journey gathers those before-mentioned hits — including the sassy honky-tonk corker “Say It,” the classic tear-jerker “If It Ain’t Fixed” plus the plaintive and longing “Harder” — and adds a fistful of dazzling new songs, several penned in Nashville and all helmed by in-demand producers Dan Swinimer(Madeline Merlo and JoJo Mason)  and  Jeff Johnson (Dallas Smith, George Canyon, Wes Mack).

In 2017 She was named Country 105’s Rising Star and joined Kane Brown on a Western Canadian Tour that same year. In 2016 she also won the Country Thunder Music Festival Cowboys Star Concert Series.

With undeniable passion and mesmerizing presence, Lauren Mayell captivates everyone in her path. She truly puts her heart and soul into everything she does, leaving a trail of hope and a desire behind her to persevere. After the sudden and recent passing of her father, Larry Mayell (2019 ACMA Industry Person of the Year), who Lauren proudly affirms is her first hero in life, she is motivated now more than ever to achieve the dreams that she and her father shared together in her musical journey. With a final gesture, Larry indicated that Lauren should never give up, and so she never will.
