Acclaimed folk singer-songwriter Mallory Chipman and folk-pop multi-instrumentalist Madi Allen join forces at the legendary King Eddy on November 19.
About Mallory Chipman:
There’s something almost spiritual about the way Mallory Chipman writes about the mundane. Imprinting wonder and curiosity upon each simple blade of grass and glass of beer she sings about, it’s no surprise that she is often compared to the legendary singer-songwriters of yore. Still, her sound is deeply idiosyncratic, and has “placed itself amidst the longer tradition of the great singer-songwriters” (Americana UK). Mallory’s 2024 album, ‘Songs to a Wild God’, hit #1 on CKUA and #5 on the Folk International Charts, and has been featured on NPR, CBC, and SiriusXM Radio. Her recent EP ‘the time’ has been described as “a masterclass and a masterpiece” (Happy Mag Australia), and has cemented her reputation as an instant classic in Canada’s folk scene. In 2026, Chipman was a nominee for Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Roots Artist of the Year at the Country Music Alberta Awards. Her forthcoming album, Court of Hope, will be out in 2027.
About Madi Allen:
Madi Allen is a Calgary, Alberta-based folk/pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music bridges deep emotional vulnerability with unforgettable melody. With over two decades of performance experience, Madi effortlessly commands the stage—equally at home behind the microphone, acoustic guitar, or piano. By day, Madi works as a certified music therapist, a discipline that deeply informs her songwriting and performance style. Her background gives her a unique ability to tune into her listeners, creating an authentic, welcoming atmosphere that instantly connects with any audience. Drawing inspiration from the human experience, her songs navigate the nuances of love, loss, mental health, and the vital importance of togetherness. After establishing her music therapy practice in Calgary, Madi got back into the studio to record her sophomore album, Melting In Your Hands. This was released in February 2026.
