About Marcus Trummer
Marcus Trummer is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist from Calgary, AB with an eclectic sound steeped in roots-rock, blues, and soul.
Marcus burst onto the scene in 2018, becoming the host of a monthly youth jam night at venerable Calgary blues bar, The Blues Can. Since then, he has gone on to support JUNO Award winners MonkeyJunk and Jim Byrnes, and performed as part of the 2019 Calgary International Blues Festival after receiving the festival’s Randy Ouston Scholarship. That year, Marcus was also the recipient of the Zackariah and the Prophets Memorial Award at the YYC Music Awards.
In 2020, Marcus and his band teamed up with producer Steve Dierkens to record their debut EP, These Roads. Released in November 2020, These Roads received support from CBC Radio One, CKUA, and X92.9. It also landed a review in the Calgary Herald which labeled Marcus a “precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness” (Eric Volmers, Calgary Herald). Following the success of These Roads, Marcus and band were invited to perform as part of the National Music Centre’s 2020 virtual gala, alongside a lineup that included the likes of Jann Arden and Corb Lund.

What is certain, is anything JSB will include powerful guitar playing, sultry vocals, and genre-blending compositions that are uniquely the bandleader’s own signature. Firmly backed by the foundation of Denis Paquin and Gabriel Forget, the explosive core trio has brought their acclaimed albums No Worries, A Fool’s Heart, JSB Live, and Honest Lies to stages across Eastern Canada.
Through the turbulence of the pandemic, Justin unearthed some truly remarkable songs exploring fresh territory for JSB. This second full-length studio album — Honest Lies was produced by Ariel Posen at Tone Bender Studio in Montreal with an all-star team.
The band is no stranger to major festivals, having appeared on multiple occasions at the Tremblant International Blues Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival as well as the Ottawa BluesFest, and Festival d’Été de Québec in 2019.
