Alt-rock five-piece Neighbour Andy bring their blend of Americana, folk, and funk to the legendary King Eddy stage on August 28.
About Neighbour Andy:
Middle province’s Neighbour Andy has spent the last few years building a reputation not only as a band, but as a genuine hot ticket. Comprised of Drake Lesperance (vocals), Mark Davidson (guitar), MacKenzie Jackson (bass), Jordan Alexiuk (drums), and Joel d’Eschambault (keys), the five friends fuse the rhythmic drive of alt-rock with the narrative heart of Americana, folk, and an influence of funk — a sound that skips the predictable and lands somewhere that feels necessary.
The group first gained local traction in 2022 with the single “71,” an infectious track born from guitarist Mark’s childhood home that captures the feeling of growing up with your best friends. Their debut self-titled EP came that same year, followed by the band’s debut album release “Wild One” in 2023, when they sold out their 500-cap album release show in just eight minutes.
Their new psychedelic rock romp “Courtney” debuted at #1 New Airplay, #4 Top Gainer and broke Breaking Alt Charts top 10 in Canada, plus #2 Top CANCON Download, #4 Top Indie, and #9 Overall Download in their first-ever week at radio, thanks to their down-to-earth goofy authenticity evident through relatable storytelling. They’ve toured across Canada, featured at festivals like Departure, NXNE, Festival du Voyageur, Real Love Fest and more. With more music to come and lots to say, Neighbour Andy is ramping up, poised to become a familiar name in the alt-rock corner of music.
Neighbour Andy’s sophomore album Right By You, By Everyone is a sardonic, introspective soundtrack to the quarter-life crisis, a mirror to the deeply familiar years of our lives: the messy non-linear climb out of our twenties. It’s a playful yet poetic commentary on the relatable journey through self-sabotage, stagnant ambition, imposter syndrome, financial anxiety, and the search for genuine connection amidst lack of life experience to know better.
Bringing a banana to a gun fight. Sinking at a dying start-up. Burning up next to a busted radiator in -30 winter. Drowning in credit card debt. Moving to Yellowknife all for a girl. The ambition is real, but you end up comparing your life to an actuary ex-girlfriend in Barbados or grasping at a fading friendship, all while confusing social media stalking for romance. This is an album about inertia, indecision, and great friends — where you’re yelling at traffic only to realize you are the traffic.
Right By You, By Everyone is a clever, charismatic collision of hope and harsh reality. It spotlights our shared truths as twentysomethings, whether you are one or were one. But ultimately, it offers simply yet profound assurance: figuring out the fulfilling way forward is the quiet and powerful realization that real maturity, wealth, and wisdom is defined by the commitment to care for ourselves and one another.
