About Perpie
Recipient of the 2021 CCIS New Canadian Artist Award, Perpie is often referred to by her listeners as a beautiful blend of rhythm, tone, and emotion. As a solo artist, Perpie released her debut, Meditation, a five-track EP in 2018. In the summers of 2016 and 2017, she toured as the official saxophonist with TerraKulture for the extended productions of ‘Saro’ the Musical and ‘Wakaa’ the Musical in London. Her recent appearances include performing at the 2021 TD JazzYYC Summer Festival, three editions of ArtXpeditions by Arts Commons, Alberta Culture Days at the Grand and the Woezo Africa Cultural Festival. She was also the Newcomer Artist-in-Residence (2021) at the Central Library and one of the 2021 Banff Musician-in-Residence participants. Raised in Nigeria and now based in Calgary, she continues to expressively weave pieces of her life’s experiences and dreams into an open treasure box of music.
