Join us for a music-filled Canada Day celebration as National Music Centre marks its 10-year anniversary at Studio Bell!
You’re invited to a free building-wide birthday bash celebrating NMC’s milestone anniversary on Canada Day! Explore Canada’s musical mosaic through exhibitions, enjoy live performances, and participate in hands-on activities for the whole family.
At Studio Bell (across the street from the King Eddy), Canada Day will feature A Sharon, Lois & Bram Singalong with Sharon & Randi celebrating beloved songs from their iconic children’s music catalogue. The day will also include performances by genre-bending alternative act Kue Varo & The Only Hopes and seniors’ band The Rhythm Kats. Music history comes to life with interactive activities for the whole family, including Kimball Theatre Organ demonstrations, a drum-along led by Beatmap Music, and a Music Odyssey Goosechase scavenger hunt. Plus, celebrate our country’s music icons and explore exhibits dedicated to Canadian Music Hall of Famers Nelly Furtado, Sum 41, and Oscar Peterson, as well as the updated Speak Up! exhibition honouring Indigenous trailblazers including Tudjaat, Crystal Shawanda, Andrea Menard, Jerry Alfred, and the Stoney Park Singers.
Step into the historic King Eddy for even more live music! The Eddy will host free, all-ages performances on the main floor and rooftop patio, featuring folk singer-songwriter Toni Vere, country artist Miles Canyon, Franco-Albertan country act Meera Sylvain, singer-songwriter Matt Beatty, Cree-Métis outlaw country artist Jacquie Daniels, country-rocker Ty Baynton, and acoustic roots duo The Charms.
The King Eddy opens at 10 am with live music on stage from 4 pm until close. Stay tuned for the full schedule.
