About Selci
“She bridges the indie and electronic worlds with ease…all while finding her own artistic voice.” – BeatRoute
“…atmospheric production and ethereal vocals give sonic vitality to the poignant narrative…a soundtrack of gorgeously touching music.” – EARMILK
“…jazzy, ambient electronica crystallize into alluring pop songs” – Calgary Herald
“It’s a disarmingly wondrous and beautiful pool to immerse yourself in — one you should.” – The YYScene
Calgary-by-way-of-Winnipeg electro-pop singer-producer Selci bridges the seductive, iconoclastic electronics of FKA twigs and the minimalist-pop of James Blake to shape her sonic vision. While trained in opera, contemporary and classical musical styles, Selci uses ambience and rhythm to compose sounds
that exist on the fringes of pop music. Her debut 2019 EP Effervescence was mixed by esteemed sound guru Sylvia Massy (Prince, Kate Bush), and featured an array of rare instruments and equipment from the National Music Centre in Calgary. An exploration of electronic sounds and textures, the EP illuminated Selci’s journey as a sound designer and her dedication to carving out more space for herself and other women in technical roles. Upon its release, it received praise from the Calgary Herald, CBC Radio, BeatRoute, and EARMILK; charted on college radio stations throughout Canada; and was featured
in The Sunday Times Hottest Tracks in the U.K. Selci is currently collaborating with Vancouver producer Neighbour on her second EP, A SOFT PLACE, which is set for release in June of 2020 on Inner Ocean Records.
About Ashley Velvet
