Sinzere with Lyrique

Calgary hip-hop tour-de-force Sinzere takes over the Eddy with rapper lyric Lyrique.

About Sinzere:
Sinzere is a DIY hip-hop tour-de-force. Starting first as a singer, then joining a dance crew, to becoming a dancehall DJ, to rapping, and then melding those modes into one multi-faceted music identity, there is not one side of music that Calgary, AB, based artist Sinzere has not put her mind to.

Hot off her sharp and unabashed mixtape Bohemian (2018), Sinzere has taken no rest, putting out two firey singles in 2019, the sharp ‘Posers’ and sardonic ‘Catching Feelings.’ Not wasting any time, Sinzere is releasing her most ambitious project to date this fall, an emotional and sweeping concept album entitled Ghetto Gabby.

Sinzere is fiercely independent, learning to fend for herself after spending some time living on the streets of Calgary. Her upbringing was anything but warm, from the kidnapping of her single mother to the murder of her musical mentor, to her father becoming both a pimp and an addict, experiences that have pushed her forward, and given her pride in the person she is, her Jamaican heritage, and her history. Her life and energy are woven into the beats of the densely layered Ghetto Gabby, a narrative hip-hopera about a melanated girl growing and evolving, experiences with violence and eventually going over the edge. This is Sinzere’s most personal work, and most diverse, working with Taylor King Beats, Dopeboyzmuzic, and NY Bangers to make her most sonically experimental work to date. The EP comes out at the end of this year on Hers&Herz records, a label which, surprising no one, Sinzere runs herself with her fiancé.

Sinzere isn’t just a singer, rapper, dancer, or DJ. She will escape any box you try to put her in. Like her icons Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Foxy Brown, NWA, and Wu Tang Clan, her self and spirit is woven into her music, whether producing on a record, or performing live with her five-piece band, Sinzere will be telling her own story.
