Sled Island and CKUA present Kue Varo & The Only Hopes performing live at the legendary King Eddy on June 20 along with Marissa Burwell, KT Laine, and sunshower.

7:00 pm – sunshower
8:00 pm – KT Laine
9:00 pm – Marissa Burwell
10:00 pm – Kue Varo & The Only Hopes

About Kue Varo & The Only Hopes:

Calgary-based alt-country four-piece Kue Varo & The Only Hopes delivers ethereal, dusk-tinged rock with a distinctive, mystical edge. Following the release of Cowboy Witchcraft in 2023, they earned critical acclaim from the likes of Exclaim! and George Stroumboulopoulos, and their hit “Furthest Place” charted Top 40 on Canadian Alternative Radio for five weeks.

About Marissa Burwell:

Regina-based singer-songwriter Marissa Burwell makes music that is part back-seat-of-the-minivan crooner and part blow-out-the-speakers indie rock. Accompanied by a ripping band, Burwell creates moments of warm musical tones featuring thick harmonies wrapped around gentle guitars and drums, while other moments showcase cathartic bursts of energetic alternative rock.

About KT Laine:

A study in subtlety, KT Laine’s folky anthems radiate a warm glow. Indebted as much to Cate Le Bon as she is to legends like Judee Sill, her songs are brought to life with languid vocals, plucked guitars, and a sincere presence. With two prior Sled appearances under her belt, third time’s the indie rock charm for KT.

About sunshower:

Led by multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Cook, everything you need to know about sunshower is right there in the name: upbeat psych rock that washes over you like a bright, beautiful day. The project dropped its debut, self-titled EP last year — produced by Cook himself — and it serves as the perfect entry point to sunshower’s mirage-like take on indie rock.
