For a special brunch treat, old-time singer-songwriter Amy Nelson fills in for Songsmith Sundays, presenting a chill weekend set filled with songs and storytelling.
About Amy Nelson:
The sweet, sad longing and play of words and phrases, delivered in a voice from days far gone. Nelson began her music career as an old-time banjoist, singing songs older than her grandmother. As time wore on, she began to dedicate herself to not only the preservation of the rural sound of folk music but by writing songs that reflected her own view of the world too. Amy’s songs display a veracity and rawness that is uniquely her own.
Steeped in the rich history of blues, hill-country, and old-time music, this remembering is what gives birth to Nelson’s sonic approach.
“Nelson’s songs exist in their own realm, but flirt with the notions of ’50s country, psych-folk, and banjo drone. This is tumbleweed music of the highest caliber.” – Beatroute Magazine
