About our Songwriters Showcase Host, Clinton St. John:

Multi-instrumentalist, Clinton St. John, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Delburne, AB, basing himself in Calgary, AB, where he has lived for the last twenty years. Having taken many forms over the years including performing with a seven-piece band and as a solo performer, Clinton currently performs his material as a duo. His songs have strong narrative and dream-like qualities, finding influences in folk, blues, country, rock and psychedelic music. As a visual artist, he is prone to combine his musical landscapes with surreal drawings and paintings.

Nov. 4: Robbie Bankes

​Robbie Bankes is a musician from Calgary, Canada. He currently resides in Rauland, Norway, where he is studying folk music at the University of Telemark. Traditional songs and ballads inspire his approach to music, and his performances enliven dusty tunes, while his own compositions are steeped in the same tone. He has played throughout Western Canada, and Northern Europe. In 2015, he was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award.
