The Wheel, Snake River and Cold Water

Combining the sounds of The Grateful Dead, Neil Young and Ween, the Calgary rock band The Wheel is hitting the King Eddy stage on September 21!

Fronted by songwriter Patrick Whitten, the group is formed of some long time favourite faces from the Calgary music community, including members from The Bitterweed Draw, Groon, Lazer Cake and the short lived Feeler.

Snake River
Snake River began as a home for singer and multi-instrumentalist, Christopher Sleightholm (The Lonesome Weekends) to release his homespun psychedelic-leaning recordings. His debut album Songs No One’ll Hear (2012) enjoyed airplay on Canadian campus radio, reaching #5 on Saskatoon’s CFCR.

After a jaunt through western Canada as a touring member of The Besnard Lakes side-project, The Soft Province, Sleigtholm expanded Snake River, asking members of the band to perform with him. In came veterans John De Gennaro (Geronimo, ex-Despistado) on guitar, Dustin Gamracy (Spoils) on drums, and Whistlin’ Jeff M on bass.

Cold Water
Self-described “full-stack folk” band Cold Water continue to hone their craft of playing folk music loudly. Beginning as an alt-country band filtered through a healthy dose of Canadiana, their vision culminated in 2015 for the release of their self-titled LP – a collection of smoky guitars, sailing steel and grovelled vocals. Their upcoming album,”LP2″, offers a fresh take on their sound, promising a more bombastic sound, classic rock solos and charging tempos.
