COVID-19 update for the King Eddy: March 25, 2020

Dear friends of the King Eddy,

As the Public Health Emergency declared by the city and province continues to escalate, the Eddy is committed to working together to flatten the curve and do what we can to stop COVID-19 from spreading.

Like many organizations and individuals from different sectors across the country, we’re postponing or cancelling events for the foreseeable future, depending on how the situation continues to unfold. As a result, the Eddy will remain temporarily closed to the public until further notice or until it is safe for our guests and staff to return.

Regrettably, this has resulted in making the very difficult decision to temporarily layoff staff. Like many of our friends in this sector, these layoffs became inevitable in order to ensure a healthy future for our venue. This news is heartbreaking for all of us, but it’s only temporary. The health and safety of our community is our first priority — so please stay home!

Music has always been the heart and soul of the Eddy, and we’ll continue to do what we can to bring people together by sharing our stories online for the time being.

We want to thank everyone who has reached out these past few weeks with your messages of support and those who’ve offered to hold onto tickets until shows can be rescheduled in favour of a refund. We can’t thank you enough for this. Your decision to show your support right now is heartwarming and means everything to us.

We will get through this together, so please stay positive, supportive, and keep showing love for live music in Calgary however you can. We’ll see you all soon and look forward to welcoming you back to the Eddy.

Stay safe,

The King Eddy Team
